wâpîmîkwâniw & Co. is a proudly Indigenous iskwew (woman) owned business that aims to create a space in the luxury candle and mainstream fragrance industry. wâpîmîkwâniw means White Feather in the Cree language and is the name of its owner Scarlett Cardinal. While in my graduate studies, I wanted to have a calming and grounding space for my mental health, well-being, and studies. Candles and traditional medicines played an essential role in creating this space. As most candles contain chemicals, I was inspired to create a candle that found a balance between a non-chemical candle and the Indigenous senses that brought comfort to me. It was from this idea that wâpîmîkwâniw & Co. Candle Company was born. My vision was to create a candle that infused my home with an aroma that connected me and my family to our traditional ways of being as nêhiyawak (Cree People).
